THE DESIGN PROCESS

I collaborated closely with a UX Designer, Web Developer, Project Manager, Content Designer, and UX Strategist from discovery through launch of new site.

RESEARCH & DISCOVERY

We planned and conducted multiple interviews with FSF’s founder to learn who their users are, how they typically use their website, and what they want their new website to accomplish.

DISCOVERY & PRODUCT STRATEGY

We created a  sitemap to ensure we were all on the same page regarding Families Strengthening Families’ information architecture and divided up the pages we would each focus on so we could conduct our tasks effectively and independently. Throughout this process, we also discovered and presented design opportunities to the client - such as including a pdf of available community resources for their users on their site.

EXPERIENCE DESIGN

First, we mapped out FSF’s unique value proposition and supported it with independently researched facts on why what they do matters in their community.

EXPERIENCE DESIGN

We then mapped out a case for why potential volunteers should get involved with FSF and how donors can show their support.

EXPERIENCE DESIGN

Tanya is inspired by what she learns about Families Strengthening Families and wants to donate.

EXPERIENCE DESIGN

A’Shanti is excited to see so many images of volunteers her age on the Get Involved page and wants to volunteer.

CONTENT & INTERFACE DESIGN

Prior to our website redesign, FSF had 2 total pages, an excessively long Contact Us form, and no clear value-added proposition, testimonials, or metrics to showcase organizational legitimacy.

Clients also expressed dissatisfaction with the limited amount of images of families on their previous site.

CONTENT & INTERFACE DESIGN

FSF’s redesigned homepage’s focus is to communicate purpose with heart and showcase legitimacy as a Georgia-based community nonprofit.

Here are the key design changes we implemented: a timed carousel of rotating Hero Images with CTA inviting users to join FSF’s community, a donate button that employs a simple consistent layout in the top right of the site, need statement, and testimonials.

CONTENT & INTERFACE DESIGN

Redesigned Events page now showcases information on previous events and workshops and includes details on how to register for upcoming events.

Here are the key design changes we implemented: included imagery and description of past program events and CTA on how to join the FSF events.

CONTENT & INTERFACE DESIGN

Provided Experience, Interface, and Content Design for About Us, Get Involved, and Resources pages.

Here are the key design additions we implemented: linked FSF’S CARE Values with what they do, outlined various ways interested users can Get Involved with FSF, showcased quantitatively FSF’s community impact, and provided an easily downloadable pdf of Resources for Georgia families with varied needs.

PROTOTYPE, TEST, & ITERATE

Due to the limited timeframe we had to complete the website redesign for Families Strengthening Families, we opted to conduct an accessibility audit and directly fixed key design issues that were discovered on Wordpress.

PROJECT SUMMARY

Families Strengthening Families’ redesigned website is proving to be a hit with the client and an organic source of new users, with a sold-out workshop event and a proven increase and interest in FSF’s services.
